Q&A: Is it okay for my cat to stay temporarily in a pet carrier w/ a kitty litter pan at one end of the carrier?
Question by : Is it okay for my cat to stay temporarily in a pet carrier w/ a kitty litter pan at one end of the carrier?
She is an outdoor cat and not use to being inside. She is having surgery & being fixed tomorrow so I need to keep her confined in the house tonight and for several days while she recouperates. Letting her roam the house is not an option.

well first things first good job getting your pet spayed! there’s to many homeless animals not to and is fine to keep her in a cat carrier as long as it is big enough for her to be able to lay down a little ways away from the smelly liter.

yes as long as she has a place to lay down away from the litter box. Good for you getting her spayed.
What about keeping her in the bathroom with a litter box and something soft to lie down on? She’d be confined and much more comfortable.
Kudos for getting her fixed! yes it is okay as long as you keep it cleaned. however do you have a bathroom that you can isolate her to after? even if it is for a few hours. They recover pretty quickly. you just need to keep an eye on her stitches
i dont think thats the best for the cat, but i think your making it feel like its in prison,
you should buy a cat bed so it can roam free whenever it wants to,
but if its still a kitten, its best if you leave it in your room and put the kitty litter outside the house.
It’s definitely not ideal several days in a carrier is really hard on a cat. I’ve had to do it for a cat that could not put weight on it’s leg for a long time. I used a large carrier though and kept her in a bathroom and let her out at various times to stretch her legs and socialize with me. My suggestion would be to confine her to a bathroom or laundry room with a litter box. Otherwise could you buy a very large cage or borrow a big dog cage from someone? You could try posting on Freecyle.org for your city to see if you can get one for free that someone no longer needs. You could also see about about boarding her at the vet or someplace else locally where they’d have larger cages.
