Question by cr176761: How much will it cost to take my 5 pound puppy on the plane with me?
I will be taking my puppy with me back and forth from Maine to Florida and was wondering what airline is best to take pets on. Also if you know of a good airline approved carrier, please give me the brand and name. Thanks

You can carry the dog with you as a carry on bag on Continental for around $ 250.

Some dont allow pets at all
Some wont allow pets in-cabin, but will fly them cargo
All airlines have restrictions regarding temperature and flying pets as cargo.
They also only allow so many pets per-flight.
In cabin, generally costs around $ 50-100 per flight
Cargo, generally $ 100-200 per flight.
Your dog will also be required to have a health certificate signed by a vet.. some airlines require it to be signed no more than 30 days before the flight, and some require it to be signed within 10 days.
Any solid carrier with a wire door is appropriate for airline travel.. it also needs metal fasteners to hold the crate together, not the plastic ones, and should also have a “live animal” sticker attatched to it (most carriers come with these stickers).. Sherpa bags are approved for in-cabin, providing they fit the carry-on standards.
