I have a lizard that I need to transport from time to time and I’d like a pattern for covering his crate to help keep out draft…anyone have a pattern or an idea of how to do it? I knit, and enoy it, but am not super talented

If you want to make a cover for anything, it is quite easy. Make a paper pattern, and then just knit pieces that match your pattern. It would most likely be rectangular pieces… and then you just piece them together. If you can knit in the round, you can make a rectangular piece for the top, and then pick up stitches all the way around, and just knit round and round, making a tube. It’s not that hard to do.
If you are going to felt it, this is a bit tricky. You would knit a cover larger than you need, and then felt it which will shrink the fabric. The trick is to be able to predict how it will felt — sometimes they shrink in size a lot, sometimes only in the length but not so much in width. So you need to make it large enough so that when felted, it would be the exact size you need. This requires a lot of skill and experimenting, but can be done.
