How cone Southwest Airlines Doesn’t transport Pets?
Question by spaceshotx7: How cone Southwest Airlines Doesn’t transport Pets?
I kind of find it hard to believe, But southwest Airlies is the only airlines that doesn’t take pets at all for travel. Why is that?
Why couldn’t they take small pets in carriers that fit under the seats?
I understand that the Cargohold may not be climate controled. Howcome airlines don’t build special areas in the cargohold that are climate controled just for pets?

They are a low-cost airline. They don’t want to bother with the transportation of animals as they want to save you – the customer – as much money as possible. And they really do do just that.
One of Southwest’s philosophies is to turn an airplane with a minimum of ground time, and the extra manpower in handling pets is not justified. All of the airlines decide on what to offer to the public and what not to offer, i.e. pets and advanced seat selection, and that is it. It is up to the traveling public to decide if they agree and book or disagree and book another carrier. Another possible reason is that the pet must be placed in a pressurized and heated compartment, and in order to control costs and reduce fuel consumption, southwest does NOT heat or pressurize cargo compartments.
