traveling with my two pet birds?

i’m going to be traveling by car from Michigan to South Carolina. and i have two ringneck doves that i bought while i was here in michigan. Would it be ok to put them in like a small dog carrier for the car ride or do they need to be in their cage to feel safe? also they;ve been trying to mate constantly since i bought them so i suspect that the female should lay a couple eggs anytime soon..are there any precautionary measures i should take while traveling with her..should i keep them seperate for the car ride?

keep them in their cages and separate them if possible. Take anything off that will swing around and possibly injure them. cover three sides and leave the front open so they can see and hear you. Play soft music and talk quietly to them. I did this same road trip with my 2 parakeets and this worked for me.
