Question by : are there any bus companies or train companies that allow pets?
My wife is going to visit family from Tennessee to Massachusetts and she is bringing back a cat with her. Are there any companies that allow pet travels to put the cat in a carrier? I do know that Peter Pan and Greyhound dont allow. Neither does Amtrak.

There are no trains between TN and MA. Greyhound is the only bus service. If you are talking about a trip soon, it is too hot to ship one as cargo by air. Truthfully, your best option is to drive.

Tips for air travel with my cat?

No joke, but go to the vet and get her drugged. The vet can give you a pill that the cat can take like 2 hours before you get on the plane. This way it calms the cat down and makes it less stressful for her. Also check with the airline and make sure they don’t have any rules and regulations, such as the animal has to be drugged or something along those lines. Also if the airline allows it make the carrier as comfy as possible, like put in an old shirt of yours inside so she can smell your scent and be comforted even if she can’t see you. Good luck!

Question by : Does anyone know if a pet carrier the size of Lufthansa’s restrictions for the cabin even exists?
I am travelling from Dublin to Frankfurt with Lufthansa and they allow you to book your cat aboard the cabin, providing the pet carrier meets their size restrictions.

It says on the site the allowed dimensions are 55cm x 40cm x 20 cm (about 22″ x 15.5″ x 7.8″) but after an exhaustive Google search I can’t find any carriers that fit this size, even the ones that state they are “airline approved”. The length (55cm) and height (40cm) are absolutely fine, you can find tons below that, but the width (20cm) is ridiculously small and I don’t even think such a carrier even exists!

Does anyone know of one that fits the requirements or alternatively has anyone travelled with Lufthansa and used one that they have allowed even though it’s outside them? Help please!

Maybe try phoning the Airline to see if they would know where to get the correct airline approved size, good luck! Or even try contacting breeders that routinely fly cats to their new owner. Sorry, I have never flown with a cat on Luftansia. Although my daughter travelled on Air Canada with her cat in the cabin.
