Question by dabigchew: Does Northwest Airlines weigh pets/carriers that will be in-cabin?
My dog and carrier weigh slightly more than 15lbs pounds combined. He fits easily (can turn around, stand, etc) in the approved Sherpa which will fit under the seat though. Does anyone know whether they actually weigh everything?

No they don’t weigh the pet. However, it’s not supposed to be more than 20 pounds. They will see that you have a pet in your reservation, so they will want to take a look at the Sherpa kennel just to make sure the dog is not crammed in there and it’s not taller than 8 inches because it has to fit under that seat in front of you.
Since you mentioned that you’ve gotten all the angles covered, then you will be fine.

Question by livelikeriley: How big of a dog carrier for cocker spaniel?
I have a 13 week old puppy that I need to take on the NYC subway where a carrier is required. I want to get him one that will be big enough for his adult size since he will be bigger in the next few months anyway – what size should I buy for an adult sized male american cocker spaniel?
Thanks!

It will be big and bulky and heavy to lug around especially when your pup is grown

Question by audacious_rebel: Rolling Dog Carrier for Metro?
I am looking at moving to DC in about a year, and relying solely on public transportation once I get there. I’ve checked the Metro site, and the information I find seems to indicate that I can in fact take my dog on the Metro, provided she is in a secure carrier. I would like to find a rolling carrier for her, much like a piece of rolling luggage, but with some nice air ventilation. I have found a number of options for smaller pets, mostly under-the-seat airline-approved carriers. My dog is a border collie mix and weighs 22 pounds. Does anyone know of a carrier that would work for her?
