I’m a guy that has just purchased a little Yorkie puppy and I wanted to know if there were any backpacks that would hold a dog in them. I looked around and all I could find were purse-like carriers. If you could please tell me where I could buy a dog backpack, I would appreciate it.
So…. I was out almost all day Sunday with friends & when I came home there was a new addition to my family! My husband had been talking about this for a few months, but I didn’t realize how serious he was until I saw the cute little puppy napping in the carrier on the kitchen floor!
Surprise!!!!
I didn’t know what to think, but I fell instantly in love!
Now I told him before, when he was talking about getting a dog, that it would be his & my son’s responsibility… & he agreed "Oh, yes.. you won’t have to worry about it!" But guess who is home most of the day…. that’s right—Me! I know nothing about potty training a dog, etc. & there have already been a few accidents. The place he bought the puppy from did, however, provide us with some handouts & info.
Right now the puppy is confined to the kitchen until he is house-broken. We have paper on the floor, & he has all the essentials. I take him outside about every 2 hours to try to get him to ‘go’.
(to be continued….)
Now I am a little worried about how the four cats in my house are going to handle the adjustment. My one, Kayla, doesn’t seem to be bothered by the puppy, & has been in the kitchen several times, looked at it, & walked away. The others are keeping their distance. I put one of the litter boxes in the other end of the house , just incase the cats get too scared to go to the back room(which is past the kitchen) to use it.
I could use some suggestions…..
Also, we are working on a name. There is a pic & description of the puppy on my 360 page, if anyone cares to check it out & leave some ideas. You may leave a comment on my blog or here.
Thank you !
Thanks for your responses so far!
Please do not send me advertisements for videos &/or books. I’m asking for advice from others who have had the same experience.
I am planning a long distance relocation (14 hrs) with my wonderful pooch (19lbs./18" L 10" H)
He is an absolute joy and is truly and honestly proned to quiet with days between barks and even rarer whines still all the while ever the social love bug.
He is perfect for traveling in the cabin, but I want to make sure he is comfortable while abiding by airline regs. But every bag claims to be Airline Approved. Part of the journey he might be confined to the Cargo Hold, same issue, need to make sure he is safe and comfortable.
I would greatly appreciate hearing from experienced and well-traveled Doggie Parents with sound advice!
Annie was becoming very disenchanted with all the responsibilities of pet ownership… one of which allowed him to take her chewies… and he is a packrat so he keeps taking, and taking – everything, yesterday he had a GOLF ball, I don’t golf, what the heck? If you are looking for something here, you will probably find it in Charlie’s bed. Annie is a caretaker and mother to ALL the animals here. She was a “found” dog, on a Texas highway, it was quickly disovered that she was a “breeder female” which explains everything about her behavior in all the videos you see her in. Nobody is as loved as she is, every animal here may not LOVE her but she has a level of acceptance that none of then back away from. Little Annie arrived, shaking all over, wanting to STAY in a carrier, and NOT housebroken. She is now an extrovert, willing to give her all to anyone wanting affection, or not. She is the reason for all I was able to accomplish all I was able to with the ferals. Nobody LOVES as unconditonally as Annie. Nobody.
