Question by Jeremiah M: What is the best airline to fly with a cat?
I’m flying from NYC to LAX in early June. I’m moving so I will be bringing my cat with me. Does anyone have any favorite airlines for pet travel? My cat is very affectionate and sweet but makes a lot of noise when he’s in the carrier. Any tips?

My cat has flown northwest several times, which is now delta, and we never had any problems. You just have to take the cat out of the carrier so they can check the carrier, and we carried her through the metal detector, then put her back in the carrier. The carrier has to be able to fit under the seat, they didn’t really care if we held the carrier in our lap, so she could see us and be reassured. Although every flight may be different.

Question by kjrockinn: Question about Rats and Travel?
Hi I need to purchase a rat carrier for travel and I was wondering if a small dog carrier would be good. I would get one with metal bars in the front. I feel like it would be roomier than most small pet travel cases and I could put some of there toys from there big cage in the carrier. Is it ok to layer the bottom with a blanket or towel or does it have to be bedding? Because Ive seen some cages on google where it looked like a blanket of some sort on the bottom.
And do you think if I had to go home for a weekend(I go to college) I could keep them in the small carrier if I exercised them a lot when I was home? I only go home like once a month. I think this would be a good option because they are only like $ 5 more than a small animal travel cage and small dog carriers are a lot bigger.
Any other cheap travel cages feel free to give me ideas!! Thanks for helping

This would be fine, as long as the bars/grids are close enough so the rats can’t squeeze through & you can attach their water bottle. A fleece blanket would be great for the bottom & you can pack a couple of extra ones for when it gets soiled. They can also use the fleece to hide in if they like. Towels aren’t as good because it’s possible for the little guys to get their toes caught in the loops.

A large one together, or two smaller ones to separate the kittens from her during most of the trip.
