Question by applesauce: What to pack for a 5 hour drive (each way) to pick up puppy.?
My fiance and I are driving 5 hours to pick up a puppy tomorrow and then another 5 hours back home same day (with puppy)
We plan on driving straight there and straight back (puppy breaks of course) but we feel like were missing some stuff (maybe not)… but if you see something missing please fill it in!!!
We will be leaving at 5am – be there around 11am (allowing traffic) and leaving by 12pm to be home by 5pm..
Please add to the list below! (We will have a cooler)
For Us:
- Morning Drinks
- Sodas/Waters
- Breakfast? (suggestions for a car ride….)
- Lunch/Sandwiches
- Chips/Snacks (suggestions…)
- GPS
- Mapquest Printouts for backup
- iPod
For Puppy:
- Carrier
- Toys
- Blanket
- Collar & Leash
- Treats
- Food (w/ bowl)
- Water (w/ bowl)
I feel like I have everything but maybe an outside source can see something if I am missing it and/or have made a similar trip!
My fiance likes to be over prepared for everything to I have the tendancy to overthink everything lol
The breeder will be giving us a blanket of the puppies and also the food.
I listed carrier- however we have not purchased on yet. Does anyone have a good suggestion of something else than that? Perhaps a laundry basket or something of that nature?

Question by : I’m picking up a puppy an hour away.?
I’m a adopting a puppy an hour away and I’ll also be by myself. So what exactly do I need to be prepared for this? Should I buy a puppy carrier? What other things should I bring?
Yes I am adopting! I’m getting her from my cousin and she is giving her to me, her poodle and shih tzu had puppies and it was a complete surprise because the shih tzu is neutered. She was going to spray her poodle but then she found out she was pregnant! FYI She is giving these puppies out for free!

Yes you should get a puppy carrier if you can.
You might even find someone would hire you or lend you for the day.
Take plenty of paper towels, towels, cloths and sprays to clean up if the puppy is sick which is highly likely.
If you can get someone to go with you then the puppy could be held a lot easier.
WTF’s all the TD’s… lol… how odd…..

Question by : Where does my dog have to be in his carrier in the airport?
I am flying with my new puppy for the first time tomorrow and I have never flown with a dog before. He is flying in the cabin with us and we already made his reservation and went to the vet. Like most young puppies he does not like to stay in his carrier unless he is sleeping, I know you have to keep him in there on the flight its self but what about in the airport? Do I have to keep him in there from the minute we walk into the door to check in to when we walk out the door at our final destination?

Only your airline could tell you for sure, but since most people love to see puppies, it wouldn’t surprise me if you can get away with having him out of the carrier in the waiting are as long as he’s on a leash.
You’re biggest problem is that no one is looking for a puppy in the airport. People in airports are very distracted. He could easily get stepped on! I wouldn’t take him out of the carrier unless you can find a gate area that is fairly calm.
