Question by Morgan: How do I get my 3 month old puppy to not lay on her paper?
I’ve been praising her for being on her paper, but now she thinks that it is just good to simply be on the paper. Right now she is laying on it, chewing her bone. =/ How can I get her to not lay on it, and realize that it is for doing her business? She has a big dog carrier/kennel thing, and she sleeps in it.
Thanks!

Don’t paper train, this will just confuse the dog in the end. By paper training you are basically training her that it is okay to use the house as a bathroom, even if it’s only in one spot.
Crate train your puppy, it’s better for her in the long run. When you’re home make sure she’s in constant view of you so you can correct her if you catch her trying to use the bathroom in the house, correct her and then immediately take her outside and praise her for doing her business outside. Also try to establish and feeding and pottying schedule to get her into a routine. When you’re not home have her go in her crate, have some soft bedding and a few toys, help her feel comfortable with the crate as this will be her “den” and her safe place for when you’re not around. Take her outside before her going in the crate and immediately when she’s let out of the crate, because dogs will not eliminate where they lay. Crate training is best all around.

Question by one_small_difference: What steps can I take to make an in-cabin flight comfortable for my 8 week old puppy and the other passengers?
I will be flying to pup from England to the U.S. I will ship the carrier to the breeder prior to my picking the pup up so she can get him used to being in the carrier. I have purchased some moisture locking pads for the crate. Anything else I should do? I want him to be calm and comfortable so he doesn’t cry and disturb the other passengers. Thanks!

Question by Bella Riquena: How to stop a puppy from wetting himself when scared or excited?
Everytime my 9 month old Pomeranian gets happy or he gets scared ( when he’s being chastised mainly) He’ll urinate on himself.
Sometimes he’ll get mad at my boyfriend or me and urinate for attention. How do I stop him from doing this without smacking him with a paper ? We walk the dog three times a day(sometimes even more) and at 8pm I put up his water bowl so he can’t have any liquids late at night before he goes to sleep in his carrier.
this is my first dog.
I never said I hit my dog thank you very much.

Question by Alice C: What kind of dog shoes should I buy for my puppy?
I currently live in Las Vegas and I’m going home to Alaska for the holidays. I’m going to bring my puppy with me. He’ll be 8 months then. Where and what kind of shoes and clothes can I buy him to keep him warm? I don’t want him to get sick because it’ll be a complete change for him.
I also bought one of those sherpa dog carriers because he will be traveling with me in the cabin of the aircraft so what other things can I do to make him more comfortable during the flight? Thanks everyone!

my experience with doggie shoes in the snow is that if you dont teach the dog to get used to the shoes when they are little (2-4 mo) they will not know what to do in them….
i have seen it many times where the dog jumps around and chews on their feet…
A fleece jacket might be nice to keep him warm. try amazon.com
If he plays barefoot in the snow just watch for signs of his feet getting to cold (when he is standing, does he hold up one or more paws?)… chances are he will be running around and having so much fun that it wont bother him.
try to bring him in a house or car every hour or two to warm his feet.
dogs are fairly used to hot and cold on their feet… their pads are made for it.
